Roadwork season’s here

Local highway projects make for slow going; some delays certain
Bunky Maestas, with Snooks Concrete, wires rebar Wednesday while building a deer guard, similar to a metal cattle guard, on U.S. Highway 550 south of Farmington Hill in the 1½-mile-long, four-lane expansion project.
Work on the U.S. Highway 550 four-lane expansion project south of Farmington Hill will come in two phases with work on the northbound lanes expected to be completed this fall. Next year, the southbound lanes will be built.
Plan ahead for expected traffic delays

Repair of a 45-year-old bridge on U.S. Highway 160 at its intersection with U.S. Highway 550 will entail major delays Tuesday and Wednesday.
Delays of at least 20 minutes can be expected to allow workers to place an epoxy overlay on the concrete deck.
On Tuesday, crews will work on the north side of the bridge with traffic confined to the south side. On Wednesday, work will take place on the south side, with traffic on the north side. Eastbound traffic won’t have the on-ramp available, so drivers must continue to the stoplight to turn right. Timing at stoplights at the DoubleTree Hotel intersection, College Avenue, Ninth Street and 17th Street will be modified to alleviate congestion.
Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to dusk both days.
There will be no left turns onto or off Roosa Avenue. There will be right-in and right-out turns only at Roosa Avenue.
After Wednesday, delays at the site will be intermittent.
For questions about the project, call the hotline at 387-8299 or email us.160.bridge@hotmail.com. Information about this project and others can be obtained by visiting www.cotrip.org or by calling 511 from anywhere in Colorado.
