Who actually writes The Durango Herald editorial? Is it the members of the editorial board, or the sole opinion of one writer?
When writing a letter to the editor, I am required to affix my name, address and phone number. The authors of the editorials also should sign their work.
It is completely ridiculous to imply that the proposed molybdenum mine near Rico (Herald, June 9) will pollute the Animas and Dolores rivers, the air, tourism, highway traffic and, get this one, noise pollution on wildlife? Mining and reclamation requirements today are a result of the abortion left at Leadville in the last century. No comparison.
The editorial writer has completely crucified this proposed mining endeavor with conjecture. At this writing, the Dolores County commissioners have not yet assembled to consider the mine proposal. Nor have the details of the size, location or scope of the proposal been released to the public.
Rob Rietveld, DurangoEditor's note: Herald editorials are all products of the newspaper's editorial board.
