Youth choir to perform Tuesday in Durango

First Presbyterian Church, at 12th Street and East Third Avenue, will host a youth choir from Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, Ill. It will perform in the sanctuary at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, and it is free and open to the public. The 50-person choir has been in existence for 30 years and consists of 67 percent young men. If you would like to host a student for the night at your home, contact Sally Bradley at

Sacred Heart names scholarship recipients

These students have received scholarships from Sacred Heart Church:

Classic for Classes: Kathy Smith.

Patrick Wanebo Memorial: Tevan Trujillo.

Francisco’s – Ted Garcia Memorial: George Mayberry III and Tobi Romero.

Gorman Memorial: Dakota Sutherlin.

Each of these recipients will receive $1,000 in scholarships.

Lutheran church to host camp for kids

Christ the King Lutheran Church will host its annual day camp, “It’s All About Grace,” for children in prekindergarten through sixth grade from July 9-12.

Registration forms are available at or the church office, 495 Florida Road. Registration forms will be accepted through July 9. The cost is $20 or $15 for preschool students.

Jehovah’s Witnesses to hold convention

Jehovah’s Witnesses is holding the 2012 “Safeguard Your Heart!” District Convention from June 15-17 at Colorado State Fair Events Center in Pueblo.

The morning sessions will begin at 9:20 a.m. The convention theme “Safeguard Your Heart!” is based on Proverbs 4:23. Strengthening one’s spirituality will be the focus of the program.

Methodists to hold Vacation Bible School

First United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from

June 25-29. There are two times to choose from: 9 to 11 a.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. The free program is for kids age 4 through finishing fifth grade. Kids will venture to Bible times Babylon and participate in activities and stories based around Daniel.
