Mortgage default program set for Saturday
Housing Solutions for the Southwest will offer a free presentation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cortez Public Library to inform the public about new programs for homeowners and landlords who are facing mortgage default or foreclosure. Making Home Affordable, the federal program for loan modifications, has been revamped to allow more options for people facing foreclosure. Housing Solutions, a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, acts as the advocate for homeowners in this process at no charge.

Dog walk to benefit Cancer Society
The fourth annual Canines For The Cure Dog Walk/Bark For Life Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Santa Rita Park. The event is a benefit for the American Cancer Society.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. The 3 Mile River Trail Dog Walk will start at 10 a.m.
The entry fee is $25, which includes a goody bag from Creature Comforts and commemorative bandana. Demonstrations and entertainment will be after the Dog Walk from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. An adoptable parade, featuring dogs from the La Plata County Humane Society and Annie’s Orphans, will start at noon.

Problem-solving courts meeting June 25
The 6th Judicial District invites the community to a Problem Solving Courts public meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 25 in the Anasazi Room of the La Plata County Courthouse.
The purpose of the meeting is to inform and update community members on their district’s problem-solving courts, including drug court, specialized juvenile court and behavioral-health court.

Bike maintenance clinic to be offered Saturday
A bike maintenance clinic will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in the parking lot of the Transit Center, just across from the Durango Farmers Market.
Get your bike ready for Durango’s Clean Commute Week, June 16-22. Learn how to fix a flat, check your brakes, put your chain back on and more. Light maintenance will be performed by local mechanics from Velorution Cycles.
