“Is it a dream, or is it true?” It’s true. Carlos Correa, a 17-year-old slugging shortstop, made hometown history at the baseball draft, and the Houston Astros hope it’s only the start of many big moments for the first-ever No. 1 overall pick from Puerto Rico.
Rockies again draft outfield with their No. 1

DENVER
The Colorado Rockies used the 10th pick in the draft Monday night to select outfielder David Dahl from Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Ala.
The 18-year-old, who throws right-handed and bats left-handed, hit .412 with 11 doubles, three triples, three homers, 17 RBIs and 18 stolen bases his senior season. Baseball America rated him the third-best outfield prospect in the draft.
Dahl, who stands 6-2 and weighs 185 pounds, is the second outfielder the Rockies have selected with their first overall pick in the last three years, joining Kyle Parker in 2010.

COLORADO SPRINGS – Ryan Warner said he’s ready to sign after the Colorado Rockies chose the 6-7 right-handed pitcher with its third-round supplemental pick.
The Rockies are offering the 2012 Pine Creek High School graduate a $363,700 signing bonus to start his baseball career and put off college studies.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, Warner is glad to stay in Colorado. Besides going 7-1 with a 2.18 ERA, he struck out 89 batters in 51 innings pitched.
