Co-author, Sherpa to make Durango appearance

Maria’s Bookshop and Southwest Adventure Guides will co-sponsor a book signing with Amanda Padoan, co-author of Buried in the Sky: The Extraordinary Story of the Sherpa Climbers on K2’s Deadliest Day (W.W. Norton & Co., $26.95 hardcover), from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Maria’s, 960 Main Ave. It is free and open to the public.
A buffet dinner with both the author and Sherpa Chhiring Dorje, one of the climbers featured in the book, will be held after the book signing at Himalayan Kitchen, 992 Main Ave. Dorje also willattend the book signing.
Dinner will feature a buffet of traditional foods from Tibet, Nepal and India. Dinner seating is limited, and tickets must be purchased by today.
Tickets for dinner and a signed copy of the book are $40, and tickets for dinner only are $18. Tickets are available at Maria’s Bookshop or by calling 247-1438.
