The State Line Fire’s progress was obstructed by an irrigated field to the east. The flames bifurcated into smaller sections that were easier to extinguish.
Help for a fire victim

An account has been opened at the Bank of the San Juans to help Tom Ross, whose house was the only structure destroyed in the State Line Fire.
Ross is a member of the Wildfire Mitigation Professionals Association. The name of his business is, ironically, Stateline Firewood.
Donations by check should be sent to the Bank of the San Juans, 144 E. Eighth St., Durango 81301. A notation should say it is for the Tom Ross account, No. 1370101202521.
