Francis foils Cards’ Holliday

Ex-Rockies’ slugger homers, but Colvin homers back in 3-2 win
Jeff Francis worked five solid innings before the Colorado bullpen took over, and Tyler Colvin hit a three-run homer as the Rockies beat the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Tuesday’s shortstop Jonathan Herrera made a nice pick-up and throw to first base in the seventh inning, but it was too late to get the Cardinals’ leadoff hitter Rafael Furcal.
Rockies’ catcher Wilin Rosario dropped a third strike, recovered, then tagged out Cardinals’ starting pitcher Joe Kelly during the fourth inning of Tuesday night’s game in St. Louis.
Rockies rumpus

The slow-footed Yadier Molina stole his eighth base in nine tries standing up in the sixth, catching Josh Roenicke napping with a huge jump ... Carlos Gonzalez is batting .372 (16-for-34) during his streak. ... Tyler Colvin is batting .358 (24-for-67) his last 18 games with seven homers and 22 RBIs.
