Durango agent receives recognition
Tommy Tucker, an American Family Insurance agent in Durango, has been recognized for providing outstanding customer experience under the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Insurance Agency Program.
Tucker has been an agent for American Family since April 1982. His office is located at 2974 Main Ave.
The evaluation process consists of a customer-satisfaction survey which measures customers overall experience with their current American Family agent. Agents must meet or exceed the standards measured on a national benchmark established by J.D. Power and Associates annual auto- and home-insurance customer-satisfaction studies. Only agencies that perform in the top 20 percent nationwide are eligible to become a Distinguished Insurance Agency.

Chamber to host Lunch & Learn
The Durango Chamber of Commerce will host the Lunch & Learn called Yes!! Home Ownership in La Plata County is Possible at noon July 25 at the First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St.
The cost is $7 for chamber members and $14 for nonmembers. Participants will learn about the Regional Housing Alliances free homebuyer education and financial counseling, as well as down-payment assistance and access to tax-credit programs and assistance for businesses with the implementation of an employee housing-benefit program. Education center names interim director
Iris Clark, interim executive director for Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center, will lend her expertise during the transition from previous Executive Director Emily Burns to a new, permanent director.
The centers board of directors expects to hire a new director within the next few months.
Clark was recognized as one of Colorado Springs 10 Women of Influence. She holds a masters degree in organizational management. Clark recently retired as the executive director at the Southeastern Colorado Area Health Education Center and is a former bank officer.
Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center is a regional nonprofit organization that focuses on improving rural health in the area.
