Darcy Africa of Boulder kissed the rock as the women’s Hardrock winner after two consecutive runner-up finishes. “It has not set in yet,” the 37-year-old mother from Boulder said after her first Hardrock victory in three tries.

Durango’s Dakota Jones, while disappointed in his third-place finish, raved about the crowds and the support for the runners along the Hardrock route. “There were people (cheering) everywhere, people in surprising places,” he said. “At the top of a lot of the passes, there were people. There were people at the top of Handies, in the dark.”
