77th Fiesta Days recalls customs of days gone by

Fiesta Days schedule

Here’s a schedule for Fiesta Days. Unless noted, all events are located at La Plata County Fairgrounds:
July 21: 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Rodeo Queen Contest at Strater Hotel and Fairgrounds.
July 23: 9 a.m. Royalty visit downtown businesses.
July 24: 10:30 a.m. Children’s rodeo demo and petting zoo. 1 p.m. Snow Top Exceptional Rodeo, with hay rides, mechanical bulls and roping practice for children and adults with special needs.
July 25: 10 a.m. Kids Fun Gymkhana – interactive activities for day care tykes; 4 p.m. 4D Barrel Race.
July 26: 9 a.m. roping slack; 12 p.m. team roping; 5:30 p.m. barbecue, 6:30 p.m. pie auction and 9 p.m. street dance on Main Avenue (800 block).
July 27: 9 a.m. slack; 7 p.m. Rodeo, part I.
July 28: 10 a.m. Parade on Main Avenue; 1 p.m. Rodeo, part II; 5:30 p.m. Chuck Wagon cookoff on Senior Center lawn; 7 p.m. Rodeo, part III – “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” (riders and crowd wear pink outfits to support breast cancer research).
July 29: 9 a.m. Cowboy Church; 10 a.m. Pancake Breakfast, 1 p.m. Rodeo part IV.
