Bud Winbourn of Cortez brought a chuck wagon he built himself to the Durango Fiesta Days Chuck Wagon Cook-off on July 28. His friend, Glen Hassard, of Globe, Ariz., used the old-fashioned portable kitchen to help out with the competition. Winbourn won Top Wagon in the competition.
“It takes quiet a while to start these beans … that’s why we have to get up so early,” said Bud Winbourn, left, of Cortez. Winbourn, Glen Hassard, center, of Globe, Ariz., and Bud McNutt, of Wheatland, Wyo., competed in the Durango Fiesta Days Chuck Wagon Cook-off on the lawn at the Durango-La Plata Senior Center. Winbourn’s wagon, The Rocking W Outfit, took third place for its beans. The event was sponsored by the La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen’s Association for the ninth year at Fiesta Days.
