It's that beautiful time of year in Colorado when everyone is out on the trails enjoying the great outdoors hiking, biking or on horseback. For safety, everyone needs to be aware of their surroundings and other users on the trail.
A single hiker with three dogs (all off leash) and her iPod blaring in her ears is not going to be aware of someone approaching from behind trying repeatedly to get her attention so they may safely pass while on a bike. Then the unfortunate confrontation begins, when the hiker yells at you as you attempt to navigate around her and her three dogs that are all over the trail. Explaining that you did call out a greeting to her several times that she was unable to hear because of her iPod, again, falls on deaf ears and a poor attitude.
The sights and sounds of the wilderness trail are its beauty. Leave your iPod at home and listen to the birds, the wind through the trees and the friendly hellos from the bikers announcing their presence. And please, leash and clean up after your pets so we can all enjoy our wilderness experience.
