The dog days of a Kennebec summer

Chilly to hot, Trimboli and Prescott win the Kennebec Challenge run
Brendan Trimboli was the 2012 champion of the Kennebec Challenge Mountain Run on Saturday in the La Plata Mountains. The “Wonder Kid” – as dubbed by one of his competitors – won the race in 2 hours, 4 minutes, 10 seconds. “I take a while to warm up,” the first-year Durango transplant said. “Sometimes it takes an hour before I start feeling good.”
Joel Morgan begins the ascent of the Kennebec Challenge Mountain Run on Saturday. The race was won by Brendan Trimboli, while Caitlin Prescott won the women’s race.
Marco Zuniga staggered across the Kennebec Challenge finish line in La Plata City in third place in 2 hours, 13 minutes, 30 seconds after taking a slip on the scree up top. “I’m surprised I didn’t rip my shores, man,” he said.
