All the fun without the air sickness

Rich Larson took advantage of the excellent thermal updrafts Sunday afternoon to fly his hand-launched, remote-controlled glider on the Fort Lewis College campus. Larson built the carbon-fiber glider from a kit and flies the 1.5-meter-wing-spanned aircraft once or twice a week. He said spring and summer are the optimal times to fly – he watches for the buildup of clouds as an indication of good thermal conditions. Larson has been living in Durango for the last four years and has been flying gliders for the last 10 years.
