Miller Middle School was evacuated for more than an hour Thursday morning after a student wrote a bomb threat on a mirror in a boys bathroom.
The bomb threat was received about 8:30 a.m., said Julie Popp, spokeswoman for Durango School District 9-R.
Students were evacuated to a safe location while police and fire officials investigated the legitimacy of the threat, she said.
Authorities gave the all-clear about 9:45 a.m., and students returned to classes, she said.
Authorities have identified a student who possibly made the threat, she said.
The investigation is pending
We take threats very seriously and currently are working with authorities to aggressively investigate this threat, said Dan Snowberger, superintendent for the school district, in a news release. Should it be determined who made this threat, we will work to ensure that we prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.
It was the second day of school at Miller Middle School.
