Its time to turn our attention from spokes to strokes and get back to normal in Durango and the Four Corners.
We are about to hit the home stretch for golf tournaments as we flip the calendar into September and early October. We still have the Ladies Club Championship coming up at Dalton Ranch Golf Club, along with the rescheduled Mens and Womens Club Championships at Hillcrest Golf Club. We also have the Durango and Farmington Lions Club Charity Golf Tournament at the Glacier Club in late September.
(Hillcrests club championships were rescheduled so as not to overlap the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, which launched from Durango on Aug. 20.)
Right on our doorsteps, however, is the 38th annual First National Bank 1-2-3-4 Person Best Ball tournament Sept. 8 at Hillcrest. There is $500 in added purse money, with an entry fee of $35 per person. For more information, call Hillcrest at 247-1499.

On the regional tournament schedule, action will resume next month with the New Mexico Senior Open/Member Quest on Sept. 5-6 at the San Juan Country Club.
Ladies Team Play will be contested Sept. 6 at Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez. The Dean Hanson Realty Scramble will follow Sept. 8 in Cortez.
There are 16 regular tournaments remaining on the Four Corners tournament schedule, so you still have time to get in some competitive fun before the leaves begin to vacate the branches.
