“Water in the West,” a symposium and community discussion featuring four panelists, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Durango Arts Center Theater, 802 East Second Ave.
Admission is $5. Panelists are Colorado Supreme Court Justice Greg Hobbs, water commissioner Alice Outwater, archaeologist James Judge and water conservation district director Bruce Whitehead.
The symposium is part of a Durango Arts Center members exhibit, also called Water in the West, that runs through Sept. 15. A discussion titled “Water in the West: Perspectives from the River Community” will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and a final event, featuring former U.S. Sen. Gary Hart, will be held at 5 p.m. Sept. 10. Hart recently released a book, Durango, about the Animas-La Plata Water Project. Both events are also at the Arts Center.
