Backed by Charlie Laudermilk, the Fort Lewis College golf team was picked to finish eighth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll released recently.
Laudermilk, one of two juniors on a seniorless squad, was named to the RMAC Mens Golf Preseason All-Conference Team.
Also on that list:
Brandon Bingaman, a senior at Colorado Mesa and a Montrose High School alumnus.
James Berry, a senior at CSU-Pueblo.
Michael Lee, a junior at Colorado School of Mines.
Eddie DeLashmutt, a senior at UC-Colorado Springs.
Bingaman, the only unanimous selection to the preseason team, was named the RMAC Preseason Golfer of the Year.
Colorado Mines was picked to win the conference and received four of the possible nine first-place votes.
CSU-Pueblo received one first-place vote and was picked to finish runner-up.
Colorado Mesa was picked to finish third.
Western New Mexico and UC-Colorado Springs each received a pair of first-place votes and were picked fourth and fifth, respectively.
Colorado Christian was picked to finish sixth, Regis seventh, FLC eighth and Adams State ninth.
Laudermilk averaged 76.08 strokes through 24 rounds of golf his junior season. Hes participated in the NCAA Division II West/Central SuperRegionals all three years, and he helped the Skyhawks to a fifth-place finish at nationals in the programs first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
