Nick Aggler was one of seven different Durango Demons to score in their 7-1 win over Piedra Vista in the DHS home opener at Riverview Sports Complex on Tuesday. Aggler also tallied an assist in the dominant nonconference win.

Luke DeKay and the Durango midfielders controlled the attack in the Demons’ 7-1 rout over Piedra Vista, picking apart the Panthers’ high offside trap defense with long, pretty passes to space that played to the Demons’ speed up front.
DHS goalkeeper Ben Marvin-Vanderyn stifled all of Beau Velarde and the Piedra Vista Panthers’ handful of quality scoring chances Tuesday until the final minute. Marvin-Vanderyn stopped Joseph Denney’s penalty kick in the 40th minute, but his defenders weren’t able to keep Denney from putting his rebound into the opposite corner for Piedra Vista’s lone goal.

Brock Ontiveros and the Durango Demons put on a show in their 7-1 home opener, winning it for the first time in coach Kenny Wood’s three years of coaching the Demons. “Our style of play was magnificent,” Zeb Soignier, left, said. “We played easy; we played simple; we had a lot of good, one-touch passes.”
Purchase
Willis Frownfelter and the Demons’ defense shut down the Panthers’ offense and gave the Durango attack plenty of chances to score. “Gosh, all around I just thought it was a good day,” DHS head coach Kenny Wood said after the 7-1 win.
