I wonder how many "accidents" are going to occur in this county where people leave their traffic lane and hit someone before we start to address the problem. As I drive through the Animas Valley, just about every other driver (with Colorado plates, too) seems to veer back and forth in the lane, and frequently veer out of the lane completely.
Two people have been killed this month already by this kind of carelessness. I have even had guests staying with me from out of town remark on more than one occasion that local drivers seem to have a problem staying in the center of their lane.
A recent study also shows New Mexico drivers rank better than those in Colorado. If that doesn't get your attention, I don't know what will.
So we really have some work to do here, folks. Raise your awareness level. Stop swerving around in and out of your lane, especially on corners, and stay in the center of your lane. It's not rocket science, but we seem to have lost this simple skill around here, and we need to do better.
