Referee Don Piccoli calls out the count as Durango Police Officer Scott Tipton bats Sunday during the Battle of the Badges charity softball game at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. Jordan Romero, with the Durango Fire & Rescue Authority, is the catcher. Durango and La Plata County law enforcement officers beat up on the firefighters, to a tune of 15-3. Money raised from the game benefits the Special Olympics, and the Durango One Hundred Club, which assists officers and firefighters who are injured or killed in the line of duty.
