Durango High School’s Tyler Worley has carried for 474 yards and five touchdowns in the Demons’ last three football games, numbers made even more impressive when you consider he hadn’t played running back since middle school before this season.

Tyler Worley ran for 208 yards and four touchdowns last week and led the Demons to a 35-28 victory at home over Farmington to improve to 2-2 this season.

Durango head coach Greg Wyatt said patience in the running game is key for the Demons’ success. “It’s the whole key,” Wyatt said. “What we’re trying to do is create creases and let the running backs find those creases, and they have the freedom to make those cuts.”

The Durango offense, which could see the return of Blake Dunlap this week, rattled off 403 yards last week in a win over Farmington. The Demons will need a similar showing to top Class 3A No. 2 Palisade, which has allowed just 20 points in four games.
