The up-and-down rollercoaster of a season for the Fort Lewis College volleyball team hit another slight dip Saturday night.
The Skyhawks fell 3-0 to No. 19 Adams State on Saturday in Alamosa.
Theyre a very solid team offensively. Theyre definitely put together well, FLC head coach Shelly Aaland said of the Grizzlies.
Still, the Skyhawks (7-7, 3-3 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) had their opportunities, but they mustered just an .040 attack percentage, with 27 kills and 23 errors.
Meanwhile, the West Division-leading Grizzlies (12-2, 5-1 RMAC) had 39 kills against just 18 errors, good for a .223 percentage.
We had all sorts of opportunities and just a couple of things here and there that were continuing to work on to fine-tune, Aaland said. So I give a ton of credit to Adams, but I would like to see a better performance from us next time.
Ashley Wells led FLC with eight kills, and Kristin Stephan, whose recent play Aaland praised, had six kills. Ciara Krening had 24 asssists for FLC.
Bayfield High School alumnae Gabriella and Katherine Rifilato made an impact for Adams State. Older sister Gabriella Rifilato had 35 assists, while the younger sister had 10 digs to tie for the team lead.
FLC will return home for homecoming weekend, starting with a 7 p.m. Friday matchup with Black Hills State.
