So much fun, let’s run two!

Arizona runners feel right at home through 50K, so why not run a 26.2
Durango Double 50K winner Gary Krugger of Flagstaff, Ariz., charged into the Carbon Junction area Saturday morning. He completed the 50-kilometer trail course in 5 hours, 11 minutes, and he’ll turn around and run today’s marathon, too. “I’ve done doubles and triples before,” said Krugger, who moved to Flagstaff from Erie, Pa., a year ago. “And this was close, so I figured I would do both.”
Sans shirt, Gary Krugger lost some extra weight and headed for the finish line in the 50K trail run Saturday in Durango. Krugger, who won the trail race in a little over 5 hours, will compete in Sunday’s 26.2-mile road marathon, too.
Runners in the 25K and 50K trail runs broke from the starting line Saturday morning in front of Animas Surgical Hospital. The fields included 58 runners in the long race, 117 in the 25K.
The course for Saturday’s trail runs included a jaunt across the Animas River in south Durango. Sunday’s marathon and half-marathon will start at Fort Lewis College and finish at Buckley Park.
Runners go single file along a section of trail near Carbon Junction on Saturday during the first day of the Durango Double, a 25K and 50K. The half-marathon and marathon will run Sunday.
One hundred and twenty-five runners participated in the 25K and 50K trail races Saturday, and many of those will double up and run in the Durango Double marathon or half-marathon Sunday.
