Youth XC to run final installment of 3 races

The final youth cross country race will be held Wednesday at the Durango High School track.

Registration is at 4 p.m.

Runners will have the opportunity to run with the DHS cross country team.

Preschoolers to fourth-graders will run one mile. Parents are welcome to run with their children.

Students in grades 5-8 will run 1.5 miles.

No restrictions: SunUte hosts softball tourney

The SunUte Community Center is hosting a men’s unrestricted and coed softball tournament Saturday and Sunday in Ignacio.

The deadline to enter the tournament is 5 p.m. Wednesday. The tournament schedule will be available two days later.

Players must be 16 years or older, and players 16-17 must have their parents sign a liability waiver.

For the men’s unrestricted tournament, players will be able to swing any bat against any softballs – any core or any compression. L-screens will be used to protect the pitcher.

In the coed league, men will hit 12-inch clincher balls, and women will hit .47 core balls; balls will be provided. Only American Softball Association bats will be allowed.

Knocker Athletic Club to host more softball

The Knocker Athletic Club will host the Knockout Knocker Softball Rendezvous on Friday through Sunday at Hartman & Riverside Parks in Aztec.

There is a three-game guarantee at the three-day tournament. The men’s brackets will play Friday night and Sunday afternoon, while the coed bracket will play Saturday.

The entry fee is $170, and the deadline to enter is 6 p.m. Thursday.

The tournament champions will win 14 Champion dri-fit shirts, and the rest of the awards will be based on the number of teams.
