My family of five spent a week in Pagosa Springs a few weeks ago. During our visit, we decided to stop to visit Durango on our way to Ouray. We were extremely impressed with the courtesies extended to us by store vendors and restaurant employees, as well as the friendliness of local folks.
This was most certainly exemplified by one of your very own when we unexpectedly experienced mechanical problems with our Suburban about 20 miles out of Silverton late that afternoon. After securing a tow truck, we waited for its arrival for the tow back to Durango, and I proceeded to contact local auto supply dealers for recommendations as to where to tow my Suburban.
Brittain's Highland Services was by far the choice of several of these folks. Therefore, we asked the tow driver to take us there. When we arrived at Brittain's, it was after closing time. The owner, Rich Brittain, was still at the office waiting for us. I proceeded to tell him that we were in a predicament as I was unsuccessful in locating lodging in a couple of hotels I had contacted and I was in the process of trying to locate a rental vehicle; however, it appeared everyone was booked solid.
Upon hearing that we had no place to stay and were unable to obtain a rental car because of the time of day, Rich proceeded to make numerous calls on our behalf and found a hotel for us. He then unselfishly helped us put our luggage in the back of his personal vehicle and transported us to the hotel that he helped us obtain. Wow!
When we were able to pick up our vehicle a day later, Rich and his staff continued to extend their friendly and caring service to us. My family and I want to extend our sincere gratitude to Rich Brittain and his staff. Rich helped make our unfortunate situation bearable. The city of Durango can be proud to have someone like Rich that they can call their own.
