DHS football swamped by a deluge of turnovers

Wildcats take advantage with a speedy ground game
Fruita Monument’s Vince Grasso paced the Wildcats’ attack by running for 199 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-0 victory over Durango on Friday.
Casey Dunlap, Isiah Mayberry and Durango allowed just 130 yards through the air, 22 of it to Fruita Monument’s Aldan Woomer, but the Wildcats made hay in the running game en route to a 42-0 win.
Nick Hamlin was active Friday, batting down passes and trying to hem in the Wildcats’ running game, but Durango High School fell 42-0 to Jacob Lynch and Fruita Monument on Friday thanks to five DHS turnovers.
Sophomore Alex Lavenue got the start in place of Jeremy Szura for Durango and got banged around a bit, completing 9 of 19 passes for 61 yards with three interceptions on Friday.
