Registration opens for KDUR river relay
Registration opens today for KDUR's second annual River Relay Race.
The deadline to register is 5 p.m. July 17. Pre-registration cost $80 per team. Registration on race day is $100.
Each team of four must provide its own watercraft for the relay, which includes one tube, one duckie and one raft. All team members must also have life jackets.
The relay will be held July 18. It will being at the 32nd Street put-in. Check-in will be at 11 a.m. and the race will begin at noon.
Prizes include Lyle Lovett concert tickets, spa treatments and more. A party will be held after the race at 4 Corners River Sports.

Free Sci-Fi movie night at the Durango Powerhouse will feature the Disney Pixar animated film "WALL-E" at 7 p.m. today.
At 6 p.m., remote control aircraft hobbyist Michael Standal will give an aerial display with small planes and/or helicopters inside the Powerhouse at 1333 Camino del Rio.
Standal will also have an on-screen flight simulator so those in attendance can fly the aircraft with no danger of a mishap.

Organizers of the Durango Heritage Celebration will hold a Cajun boil from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Edgemont Picnic Grounds at Edgemont Ranch. The menu will include shrimp, crawfish, sausage, potatoes, corn and tequila-lime chicken, as well as beer, soft drinks and desserts.
Tickets cost $20 for adults and $25 for children under 12 and can be purchased at First National Bank or Alpine Bank.
The Durango Heritage Celebration will take place during the second week of October.
