Symposium ‘is just the beginning’

Our State of the Sports Union asks: How can we all get along?
Fort Lewis College defensive coordinator Ed Rifilato gives linebacker Kaulana Waalani-Arroyo his job-well-done speech on the sidelines during Saturday’s game. A cooperative effort of Bayfield and Durango high schools and Fort Lewis College, the inaugural Southwest Colorado Sports Symposium will include sessions for administrators, coaches, officials, parents and student-athletes. The goal: “I think there will be a ton we can learn from each other,” BHS athletic director Dave Preszler said.
Kennedy Clark, who has experienced high school volleyball at Bayfield and Durango High School, is just one part of the sports culture as a student-athlete. The inaugural Southwest Colorado Sports Symposium will take place Monday and Tuesday in Durango, and the Students Session is 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Fort Lewis College Student Union.
