A 27-year-old Durango man has been arrested on suspicion of selling marijuana to high school students near Durango High School.
William Torivio was being held Thursday in the La Plata County jail on $25,000 bail.
Possible charges include distribution of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both felonies, said Lt. Pat Downs, with the Southwest Drug Task Force.
Torivio was arrested Tuesday on a parole violation and was rearrested Wednesday on suspicion of selling drugs to minors, he said.
Authorities continue to investigate how many students Torivio sold marijuana to and how much marijuana he sold, Downs said.
He thanked the high school and the community at large for tipping off the task force to the illegal activity.
The high school cooperated in this case, Downs said. Thats what led to this arrest. The Task Force appreciates the communitys support and involvement.
The Task Force consists of investigators from the La Plata County Sheriffs Office, the Ignacio Police Department and the Durango Police Department and the Bayfield Marshals Office.
