Ask yourself, is your ideology so important that honesty and integrity and telling the whole truth is too much to ask from our elected officials? I was shocked to see that three liberal Durango City Council members, along with The Durango Herald, endorsed Sal Pace. If it wasnt so predictable, it would be laughable.
The primary reason given was because Pace will reach across the aisle to work with Republicans. Right, until Nancy Pelosi slaps his hand and tells him to get back in his seat. Why is it that Scott Tipton can pass five bills in the House all with bipartisan support and co-sponsor other bills authored by Democrats but that isnt being bipartisan, only an ideologue?
Why is it that the House of Representatives under Republican leadership has passed more than 30 bipartisan bills, which have never been allowed even to be debated in the Senate by Harry Reid, and the Republicans are called obstructions? Even recently in a Wall Street Journal article, by Chuck Schumer, the Democratic senator from New York, indicated he has no intention of working with the Republicans on tax reform. Is that bipartisanship?
When the Democrats controlled the House, Senate and the White House in the first two years of this administration, they didnt care about reaching across the aisle and working with the Republicans to pass their health-care bill. Matter of fact, when they thought they might not be able to bring it up for a vote, the Democrats changed the rules so it could pass with a mere 51 votes in the Senate instead of the standard 60. Yet the left and the mainstream media call the Republicans partisan? This is nothing but political propaganda.
The reason Sal Pace and other Democrats are running on this phony bipartisan banner is because they have no record to stand on and no ideas to solve our problems. I learned a long time ago that what the Democrats accuse the Republicans of doing is exactly what the Democrats are guilty of. And, unfortunately for our Republic, the press gives them cover.
