Military identifier offered on licenses
Current and veteran military service members will have the option of including a military identifier on their Colorado drivers licenses and ID cards beginning today.
The identifier will indicate the cardholders branch of service and can be acquired only after the applicant presents a valid military identification document.
There will be six branch-of-service identifiers available including Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard. The card can have only one identifier and is available for an additional $15 fee.

Solar Mamas film to be shown Wednesday
A free screening of Solar Mamas, an Independent Lens documentary, will be held Wednesday in the Boiler Room Theater of the Durango Discovery Museum, 1333 Camino del Rio.
The movie tells the story of a Bedouin woman who breaks cultural barriers to train as a solar engineer with other rural women at The Barefoot College in India.
Doors will open 5:30 p.m., and light refreshments will be served. The film will begin at 6 p.m. A conversation about alternative energy and global womens issues with Fort Lewis College Environmental Center will follow the film at 7 p.m.

Durango AARP group to meet today
The Durango AARP Chapter No. 1243 will hold its regular meeting at 1 p.m. today at the Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.

Garden club to meet Wednesday
The Garden Club of Durango will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday for a program about hardy and ornamental succulents for the garden.
The program will be followed by refreshments and the monthly meeting. Guests are welcome.

The Southwest Republican Women will meet at noon Nov. 20 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
The guest speaker, Tory Aggeler Jr. of McAlvany Financial Group, will address the aftermath of 2012 elections and what lies ahead for America in a presentation called What Happens Next: Facing the Fiscal Cliff.

Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County announces the completion of its 2012 affordable homes for two families, and will host a dedication from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Fox Farm Village located at 801 and 803 Olmstead Lane in Bayfield.
