Busy little critter

Jack Llewellyn, executive director of Durango Chamber of Commerce, discusses his discovery Monday morning at the Chamber Building at Santa Rita Park: An aspen had been downed by an Animas River beaver. Several aspens near the building have protective wire mesh around the bottom of their trunks, but one crafty beaver found one that was left unprotected. There was no damage. The tree fell into the parking lot, and a tree service removed it later Monday afternoon.
