Life-Long lecturing series to continue
The Life-Long Learning Lecture Series at Fort Lewis College will present Natural Products as Inspirations for Drugs: from Aspirin to Zocor by Kenny Miller at 7 p.m. Thursday in Noble Hall, Room 130 at FLC.
Miller, assistant professor of chemistry at FLC, will discuss the intersection of traditional medicine and modern biology, chemistry and pharmacy, and what research is being done at the college on natural-product synthesis.

Parkinsons support group to meet
The Parkinsons Disease Support Group will meet from 11 a.m. to noon Nov. 21 at the First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive.

Thanksgiving dinner available to seniors
The 4-H Thanksgiving Dinner for senior citizens will be held at noon Saturday at the Mount Allison Grange Hall off Colorado Highway 151 in Allison.
Local seniors are invited.
Social Security to reduce office hours
The Durango Social Security office will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday effective Monday. This is a reduction of 30 minutes each weekday.
In addition, beginning Jan. 2, the office will close to the public at noon every Wednesday. In addition, on Nov. 23 all Social Security field offices will be closed to the public.
Many services, including applying for retirement, disability or Medicare benefits, signing up for direct deposit, replacing a Medicare card, obtaining a proof of income letter or informing of a change of address or telephone number are available at www.socialsecurity.gov or by calling (800) 772-1213. People who are deaf or hard of hearing may call (800) 325-0778. Many of the online services also are available in Spanish at www.segurosocial.gov.
American Revolution group to meet Saturday
The Sarah Platt Decker Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 910 East Third Ave.
Guest speaker Charlie Richmond will present a program on geo-caching and the chapters geo-cache which was developed by the membership committee.
