Seniors Outdoors! announces programs



Seniors Outdoors! will host these programs:



The Wednesday Wanderers will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Santa Rita Park to walk the Animas River Trail to Home Depot and back. No RSVP is required. Dogs must be on a leash. For more information, call Eric Pahlke at 247-1130.

A hike up Big Canyon Trail into Horse Gulch and possibly Paulsky Point will take place at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 23. People should meet at the Big Canyon parking lot next to New Country Toyota. This is an easy hike. Dogs are allowed, and a carpool is available for $1. For more information, call Bill Cagle at 247-1130.

A Downhill Ski Group is available. People will meet other skiers and ski with a group at their level on various days throughout the ski season. All abilities and snowboarders are welcome. Each group will meet at the base of Lift 1 (the “Six-pack” lift). Some will coordinate to carpool from Animas City Park. The groups usually meet during the noon hour for lunch on the second floor at Dante’s. For more information, call Bruce Rodman at 385-7899 or Jim Shadid at 884-4612.

Waterfowl hunting seminar in Montrose



Experts from Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Montrose chapter of Ducks Unlimited will conduct a seminar about waterfowl hunting Dec. 1 in Montrose.

Participants will learn about hunting tactics, use of dogs, calling, bird identification, setting decoys and more. Classroom instruction at the Parks and Wildlife office in Montrose will begin at noon, and then the class will move to an outdoor location for field demonstrations until about 4:30 p.m.

Cost of the class is $10 per person.
