Fort Lewis College volleyball didnt have to look far to get its early signing period started.
Durango High School libero Kennedy Clark will join the Skyhawks next year after helping the Demons to two consecutive Class 4A state showings.
Clark, daughter of Letty and Randy Clark, led the 18-9 Demons with 336 digs in 2012, an average of nearly five digs per game.
In the process, she earned All-Southwestern League first-team honors after making the second team as a junior in her first year after transferring from Bayfield High School to DHS.
Kennedy has an amazing natural ability to read the court. To have a mentor like libero Jenna Kinzer next season will improve her play immensely, FLC head coach Shelly Aaland said in a news release. Her instincts and determination will allow her to come in and compete right away.
Clark played for the Four Corners Volleyball Club the last six seasons, earning multiple all-tournament team accolades in the process. She also served as a DHS team captain in 2012.
Clark becomes the latest in a line that includes Jessica Wilson, Chelsea Flaming and Cora Vorwald to make the leap from DHS to playing under Aaland at FLC another Durango High School standout for the upcoming season, Aaland said. I can see her developing into a high-level defensive player in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in the coming years.
FLC finished the 2012 season 11-16 overall and 7-12 in the RMAC.
