Fairgrounds tradition has abundance of volunteers
Community Thanksgiving Dinner volunteers serve turkey and side dishes during the 27th annual dinner at the La Plata County Fairgrounds on Thursday. Organizers expected to serve 700 guests at the fairgrounds and deliver another 100 meals to people around the area.

Volunteer Alfredo Ontiveros places beets on Jeremy Cox’s plate. A new tradition has developed spontaneously: Home bakers are bringing in gluten-free and dairy-free desserts.
With tables nearly full, the waiting line on Thursday went outside the Extension Building during the Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the La Plata County Fairgrounds.
