The Bobcats had no problems with Whitehorse, even if they had problems finding the net.
The Ignacio High School boys basketball team (2-0) beat the Raiders from Montezuma Creek, Utah, 58-30 on Friday night at the Webb Toyota Basin Tournament in Kirtland, N.M.
But Ignacio head coach Chris Valdez said he wasnt too impressed with the impressive at face value victory.
We played horrible, but thats all right, Valdez said. We shot terrible is really what happened.
Adison Jones scored 11 for Ignacio, followed by eight each from Kelton Richmond and Justin Carver. Jones also pulled down eight rebounds.
Adison shot pretty well when he shot the basketball, Valdez said.
When there was a rebound in his area, (Jones) pretty much got it, Valdez said of the 6-3 high school quarterback with long arms and fantastic position.
But if the offense struggled, Valdez said the defense looked pretty good.
We took the ball at will, but we missed so many shots from the outside, he said.
If we can carry over the aggressive jump-switching and physical play ... thats going to help us (today), Valdez said.
The Bobcats, who opened the season with a victory over host Kirtland Central, will play Shiprock today for the tournament championship.
