Chad Kesselhuth cashes in on Week 13 Green

Chad Kesselhuth sat out the first four weeks of the Gridiron Green season.

I guess he viewed it as his preseason, meaningless games that won’t count toward the final standings. Turns out, the Gridiron Green throws out your four worst weeks, so Kesselhuth’s four zeros won’t count toward the final standings.

The Durangoan won the Week 13 Green with 13 rights and three wrongs, two shy of Donna Cormier, the national Gridiron Green winner from Manchester, Maine, who scored 15 of 16 last weekend.

In the overall standings, “edonelan” took a two-point lead from “tholeman” – 135 points to 133. The latter’s 133 leads the Gridiron Gold.

The Guru went 10-6 last week, including six consecutive victories on Thursday games, to improve to 117.5-73.5 on the season.

Speaking of Thursday Night Football ...

Thursday, Dec. 6

Denver at Oakland, 6:20 p.m. (NFL Network; KRSJ 100.5 FM) – The ole Thursday nighters generally have played pretty funny, what with the short work weeks and all. But I see absolutely no scenario – not even the return of Run DMC – which the Raiders can pull off this upset. Pick: Broncos, 38-13. Line: Broncos by 10.

Sunday, Dec. 9

Chicago at Minnesota, 11 a.m. – The NFC North is about to get a whole lot more interesting. Pick: Vikings, 16-14. Line: Bears by 3.

Baltimore at Washington, 11 a.m. (KCNC, KREZ) – The Ravens’ D is losing its wings, and RG3 is just beginning to take flight. Pick: Redskins, 24-23. Line: pick ’em.

Kansas City at Cleveland, 11 a.m. – The emotion remains, but the victories do not. Pick: Browns, 20-10. Line: Browns by 5.

San Diego at Pittsburgh, 11 a.m. – Big Ben is back, and the Steelers are about to pull the Curtain over the Chargers’ eyes. Pick: Steelers, 20-13. Line: off.

Tennessee at Indianapolis, 11 a.m. – Andrew Luck and the Colts are for real. Pick: Colts, 28-17. Line: Colts by 5½.

N.Y. Jets at Jacksonville, 11 a.m. – McElroy? Sanchez? Tebow? (Sanchez will start.) Try a Henne on for size. Pick: Jaguars, 10-9. Line: Jets by 2½.

Atlanta at Carolina, 11 a.m. – Somebody’s taken the Fig out of Cam’s Newton. Pick: Falcons, 33-23. Line: Falcons by 3½.

Philadelphia at Tampa Bay, 11 a.m. – Foles is no Buccanneers’ foil. Pick: Buccaneers, 30-13. Line: Buccaneers by 7½.

St. Louis at Buffalo, 11 a.m. – The Rams are 4-0-1 in the NFC West; it’s time they start picking on somebody outside their division. Pick: Rams, 21-20. Line: Bills by 3.

Dallas at Cincinnati, 11 a.m. (KASA) – The Bengals are buckin’ for another strong finish. Pick: Bengals, 23-16. Line: Bengals by 3.

Miami at San Francisco, 2:05 p.m. – I bet the 49ers bounce back by the Bay. Pick: 49ers, 23-14. Line: 49ers by 10.

Arizona at Seattle, 2:25 p.m. – The Seahawks don’t lose at home, let alone to the Lindley-led Cardinals. Pick: Seahawks, 27-10. Line: Seahawks by 10.

New Orleans at N.Y. Giants, 2:25 p.m. (KASA) – Home sweet home for Eli and Co. Pick: Giants, 30-27. Line: Giants by 5.

Detroit at Green Bay, 6:20 p.m. (KOBF, KUSA) – December football on the frozen tundra at Lambeau Field? Pick: Packers, 33-19. Line: Packers by 6½.

Monday, Dec. 10

Houston at New England, 6:30 p.m. (ESPN) – Good game. Tough call. I’m taking the Hoodie at home in Boston. Pick: Patriots, 28-22. Line: Patriots by 4½.
