Skyhawks’ women learning on the fly

Kaile Magazzeni and Fort Lewis College know the defense needs to improve if the Skyhawks hope to end a five-game losing streak – their longest such streak in seven years.
After a 1-5 start, first-year FLC women’s basketball head coach Jason Flores is trying to stir a turnaround. “I think we’ve all been frustrated to a point. The good part is there are things we have to get better at, and they know what those things are,” Flores said.
Erin Curry played just 81 minutes last year for FLC, but after losing five players to graduation, she’s the most experienced player in terms of minutes played on the entire FLC bench this season.
Ashley Kuchar has improved her scoring by nearly seven points a game so far this season, averaging a team-high 13.7 points per game for Fort Lewis as part of a four-guard lineup.
