George Lundeen, stooped over, used lag bolts to affix the 800-pound bronze sculpture to the sidewalk in sub-zero temperatures Saturday morning with help from Grant Wells of Sorrel Sky gallery. I thought it fit in pretty well in Durango after walking down the street Friday night, Lundeen said. Lots of cowboys and dogs here. Everybody seems to like the old cowboy waiting for his letter, but more people like the dog. Lundeens sculpture is for sale for about $45,000; Lundeen will create a new edition of the piece in his Loveland studio for a buyer, and this edition will remain on display in front of the mall.
