Bayfield man’s quick actions save dogs

Jim Cornett describes rescuing three dogs who were trapped near a burning structure on Saturday in Bayfield. Two of the dogs ran out on their own after Cornett used his Leatherman tool to cut the fence, but he had to pull the third dog out. “He just kept running into the fence. It was like he was blind.”

After seeing flames coming from the trailer next to his business, South Street Garage, Jim Cornett ran down, rescued the dogs and then broke out a window to check the trailer. After climbing back out, Cornett found himself overtaken by smoke.
