Demons’ wrestlers score eight pins at home against Pagosa Springs
Jordan McKnight of Durango controlled Dakota Todd of Pagosa Springs early in their match Friday night, but Todd came from behind and pinned McKnight in the second period.
Patrick Cunnion of the Demons needed a dramatic reversal with 12 seconds left to edge David McCrae of Pagosa Springs 9-8 on Friday night at DHS. The Demons won the dual 51-22.
Nick Tarpley of the Demons, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, scored a 9-2 decision over Kody Snow of Pagosa Springs. The win extended Tarpley’s record to 22-0 this season.
Demetre Cullison of Durango had his hands full against Morgan Shelton of the Pirates on Friday night at Durango High School. Shelton won 10-1.
Matthew Lavengood, Durango’s 113-pound wrestler, needed only 59 seconds to pin Dylan Lynberg of Pagosa Springs. Lavengood is ranked No. 4 in the state in Class 4A.
