Class to discuss allergies on Tuesday
A free class, Preparing for Spring Allergy Season, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Osadha Herbal Wellness, 165 Spring Road.
Topics will include how allergies arise, contributing factors that can be reduced, prevention through herbs and diet, and dealing with an allergy attack.

Snowdown wine tasting, art exhibition to be held
La Plata Open Space Conservancy will present the 19th annual Snowdown Wine Tasting and Fine Art Exhibition from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 31 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
This event will present dozens of wines, 15 original fine art creations and outdoor packages for bid along with food and information about land stewardship.
Tickets are $75 per person or $100 per couple and include this years Snowdown print by artist Peter Campbell.

Bird walk to be held along Animas River
A bird walk will be hosted by the Durango Bird Club at 9 a.m. Wednesday at For the Birds, 1560 East Second Ave.
Participants will explore the habitat along the Animas River Trail around the Durango Fish Hatchery and Huck Finn Pond.
The walks last 90 minutes. Participants should bring binoculars. The event is free, but donations to the hosting group are welcome.

Class to be held about Second Amendment
A Second Amendment constitution class will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Options Restaurant, 457 Wolverine Drive in Bayfield.
People will gain an understanding of the intentions of the founders. The class is free, but donations are welcome, and will be taught by Mike Gaddy of Cortez, who is a retired veteran with 30 years service to the country.
He has been a student and teacher of the Constitution and Bill of Rights for the last three decades. Gaddy teaches Constitution classes in Dove Creek, Cortez, Durango and Bayfield.

Durango Transit announces free days
In honor of Rosa Parks contribution to human rights, Durango Transit will celebrate what would have been her 100th birthday by sponsoring a free day of transit Feb. 4.
Free days will also be held Friday and Jan. 29.

Lost in the woods series available to children
Frosty Pines Wilderness Education Program will offer a four-part series, from Jan. 26 and 27 and Feb. 2 and 3, designed to educate children ages 9 to 16 about the fundamentals of how to survive being lost in the woods during the winter.
Topics to be covered will be: maps and map-less navigation, basic first aid, survival packing, fire, shelter, wild foods, water, hygiene, Leave No Trace, and fear and psychological effects of being lost.
