Dr. Rodney L. Page, professor of oncology and director of the Flint Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University, is the principal investigator of a major dog cancer study. Winston, the golden retriever, belongs to a co-worker. He is not part of the study.

Louie’s owner, Jay Mesinger of Boulder, signed the 2-year-old golden retriever immediately after hearing about a dog cancer study seeking purebred golden retriever puppies to track their health for life. Mesinger and his wife had three previous goldens, all of which died from cancer.
