Durango woman wins blue ribbon

Oatmeal Pear Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yield: 4 dozen cookies



Ingredients:



2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

2 teaspoons cinnamon, or more to taste

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 cup shortening, butter flavor

1½ cups sugar

4 eggs

2 cups oats (quick cooking)

2 cups chopped ripe pears (without skin)

1 cup chocolate chips

1 cup walnut pieces



Method:



Preheat oven to 350 F.

In a large bowl, cream together shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs until well blended.

Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir into sugar mixture until well blended.

Fold in the walnuts, oats, pears and chocolate chips.

Drop dough by spoonfuls, about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool on wire rack.
