Different types of smoke give clues as to what’s going on with the fire, Bayfield High School students enrolled in Fire 101 learned Friday. They watched as the Upper Pine Fire Protection District burned several old cabins at the Forest Lakes subdivision.

A small fire was started by an Upper Pine Fire Protection District firefighter inside one of several old cabins at the Forest Lakes subdivision.
Randy Larson, deputy chief of operations for the Upper Pine Fire Protection District, schooled Bayfield High School students about fire behavior Friday during the burning of several old cabins at the Forest Lakes subdivision north of Bayfield. The students are enrolled in a class called Fire 101.
