Regardless of how we feel about the various gun-safety initiatives, the effort to recall Rep. Mike McLachlan comes from the fringe, is part of a national intimidation campaign and runs counter to American democracy.
We elected McLachlan to represent us all and to vote his conscience; he has been in office less than two months. In America, we have democratic recourse when we disagree with public officials. First, we can let them know, respectfully, how we feel and hope to influence their votes. Second, we can exercise our vote in less than two years. In the meantime, take a deep breath, please, do not sign the recall petition, and let McLachlan do the job we elected him to do.
