The Colorado Senate passed five of the Democrats’ seven gun bills Monday:



Senate Bill 195: Requires in-person training (not online) to gain a concealed-weapon permit. Status: Passed Senate 22-13. Next stop: House committee.

SB 196: Holds owners, makers and sellers of assault weapons legally liable for injuries or deaths they cause. Status: Defeated Friday.

SB 197: Forbids gun ownership by people with domestic violence protective orders or convictions. Status: Passed Senate 20-15. Next stop: House committee.

House Bill 1224: Forbids sale of ammunition magazines of more than 15 rounds. Status: Passed House, passed Senate 18-17. Returns to House for approval of amendments.

HB 1226: Forbids concealed weapons on most parts of college campuses. Status: Defeated Friday.

HB 1228: Requires gun buyers to pay for their own background checks. Status: Passed House, passed Senate 19-16. Next stop: Gov. John Hickenlooper.

HB 1229: Requires background checks for private-party gun sales. Status: Passed House, passed Senate 18-17. Returns to House for approval of amendments.
